Cancel ChatGPT Plus step by step

Log in to ChatGPT in a browser.

Click your profile (bottom left) → Settings → Subscription (or open the My plan dialog).

Click Manage my subscription — this opens the Stripe billing portal.

Choose Cancel plan and confirm.
Before you cancel
Refunds: No partial refunds; Plus features remain until the end of the billing month.
After cancelling: Your chat history stays — only the Plus perks (better models, higher limits) drop back to the free tier.
Good to know: If you subscribed through the iOS app, cancel via App Store subscriptions instead — the web portal won't show your plan.
Subscribed through the App Store or Google Play?
Subscriptions billed through Apple or Google can only be cancelled in the store, not on the service's website. iPhone/iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app never cancels the billing.
